Your marshals are like hordes of grasshoppers
Settling in the stone walls on a cold day.
The sun rises and they flee,
And the place where they are is not known.
Your shepherds are sleeping, O king of Assyria;
Your nobles are lying down.
Your people are scattered on the mountains
And there is no one to regather them.”
—Nahum 3:17-18 (NASB)
If I were to fully divulge my life’s resume, a very strong case could be made to at least put me in the running for the title, “Super Patriot”. Don’t get me wrong; I love the country of my birth and all the benefits I’ve derived from it, but I have to confess the longer I’ve been a Christian, the less I think of worldly institutions. No matter how good, well-intentioned, or soundly funded they may be, they are a false hope when it comes to dealing with the things that really matter.
